Rich and complex, Lady Freida Harris painted the striking artwork in the Crowley Thoth Tarot deck under the direction of the famous occultist and Golden Dawn member, Aleister Crowley. Since its initial publication in 1969 it has attracted a steady stream of acclaim for its fascinating beauty, as well as its depiction of Crowley's understanding of occult knowledge; gained over a lifetime of devoted study. Incorporating Egyptian spirituality, Astrology and Kabbalah, Crowley's Thoth Tarot has become the gold standard of esoteric and magickal Tarot.
The small version is actually about the size of a standard tarot deck and measures 2.75" x 4.375". We also have the original large size Thoth Deck (3.75" x 5.5").
Each card has the Astrological and Kabbalistic attributions illustrated on the card's border, as well as within the card image itself. The minors also have the esoteric title written on the bottom. The deck can of course be used without these systems, but even a basic knowledge of these offers infinite variations in meaning that results in more specific readings.
The Thoth Tarot is based on the Golden Dawn tradition, and contains the Kabbalistic and Astrological attributions described in Aleister Crowley's The Book of Thoth. The card back shows a stylized Rosicrucian Cross, and is not reversible (the Thoth deck was designed to be read without reversals).
